Fanfare Boosts Capabilities of its Test Automation Software and Adds Vyatta to Growing Customer List
FanfareSVT 2.3 Helps Network Equipment Manufactures Release Higher Quality Products
Mountain View, California - November 9, 2006 - The Fanfare Group, Inc., delivering innovative testing solutions to network equipment manufacturers, today announced significant new features boosting the capabilities of FanfareSVT, the first commercially developed test automation software for validating the functionality of increasingly complex networking equipment. Fanfare also announced the addition of its newest customer Vyatta, a company focused on bringing commercial-quality, open-source networking products to market. Vyatta has deployed FanfareSVT 2.3 for more effective testing, quality improvements, and accelerated product development cycles.
FanfareSVT enables testers and developers to define and execute tests that verify the functionality, performance, and behavior of a device or group of devices within a testbed. These tests can then be used to create a fully automated regression system. Using FanfareSVT companies have reported greater testing coverage, earlier defect detection, faster testing cycles, and reduction of the testing backlog. FanfareSVT 2.3 boasts new features that enable broader testing capabilities and integrate with customer defined processes.
"Vyatta is focused on product quality and has been from day one," says Tom Grennan, vice president of engineering at Vyatta. "Fanfare has helped our organization scale, and has allowed my team to spend less time building and maintaining test cases and more time actually testing."
FanfareSVT 2.3 features include:
- Key among the new features included in FanfareSVT 2.3 is the addition of the new Tcl rendering capability that instantly converts test cases, built with FanfareSVT, to Tcl scripts. With a single mouse click, any QA professional can convert tests, created using FanfareSVT's intuitive capture technology or step-by-step creation, into Tcl scripts regardless of scripting expertise.
- Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) support was added to the products' existing library of protocols - CLI, TLI, WebGUI, and .net GUI. "The addition of SNMP is extremely important to our customers who require the ability to do cross-interface testing of their products," said David Gehringer, vice president of marketing at Fanfare.
- New wizards in FanfareSVT maintain assets that have been built so they can be leveraged across multiple test cases both for personal regression testing or so they can be passed to other teams for further development or automated regression testing.
